Liam Alford - Landscape Photographer

We will be using Liam Alford as a practice.
Using the help sheet above, create a research page in your sketchbook.
We shall complete one together.

In your coursework you will need to RESPOND to the research.
This means creating your own version of their work, using their skills.

Responses

Responding to Artists is all about putting your own spin on their work.
Think creatively! What would you have done differently?
How does their work apply to your idea and coursework?

This is what you should be thinking about whenever you're looking at another artist's work

Plan your photoshoots! How are you going to respond with a camera?

Begin to plan by answering these questions in your sketchbook:

1. What is this photoshoot for?

2. Who is included in the photoshoot? Is it just you(with the camera) or do you need some models; how many?

3. What props do you need? Create a list so you know what you have to do

4. What editing needs to be done? and what programmes do you think need to be used?

If you're really struggling for ideas, try completing some workshops.

Workshops

We will be looking at Photoshop and how to use the basics

Use the BODWNAS01 folder to access Photography where you will find a tutorial.

First, we shall go through this together to refresh your memory!!

What is a portrait?

"When you take a photograph of someone, you take a portrait of their soul"

A portrait is capable of showing profound stories, specifically related to that of the subject.

But, how can we show this?

Which part of the head/shoulders is the most important for showing emotion?

How does your sketchbook look?
Do you have enough photographs?

Use the tools and techniques we've been practicing with to improve your images.

Focusses on creating a completely new brand of portraits, using folds and creases to create completely new emotions. When the new one is just right, the camera comes back out and a new photograph is born.

You will either take a new portrait, or use one you have taken previously and print this out.
Use the above photographs as inspiration and see if you can produce

Workshops

You will be carrying out a selection of workshops over the next few weeks.

You should be completing at least 1 workshop per lesson!

You need to complete one page of artist research, one page of Photos/edits, then a presentation page of your final piece

You don't have to complete the workshops in order, you can pick and choose which you want to do first.

You can work in groups for this and complete the same workshops as a friend

He believes because he didn’t go to University to study photography, he is not constrained by their ideology.
